Local Ministries PDF Print

From the Woods to the World!

Though the Northwoods campus has a heavy emphasis on taking the Gospel to the remote people's of the earth, we also focus on reaching the local community. There are plenty of local ministries underway currently in Chetek, WI and the surrounding area.

Coaching Sports: Several of our staff coach football for the middle school and lead a weekly bible study with the students. The season always ends with a big pizza party on campus to bless the players and coaches.

Elementary School Ministry: Currently we have staff working weekly in the school  When possible we also like to take Ywam students in our programs to do fun presentations for the elementary students. One year Roselawn Elementary had our team come and do a presentation for the school's "It's Cool to Care" week.

A.M.P. : A.M.P. is a dance group made up of elementary and early middle school children. They perform, and whenever they can, share the message of Jesus Christ wherver they go! To date they have performed at the Chetek Ski Show, the local elementary school, and at a Vacation Bible School in Chetek last summer.

Chetek Area Prayer Initiative: The Chetek Area Prayer Initiative is an interdenominational group here in Chetek dedicated to seeing the community transformed through the power of prayer. They also provide resources on prayer for anyone seeking to know more. Check them out at http://www.chetekareaprayer.org or you can also find them on facebook under Chetek Area Prayer Initiative.

Setapart: Setapart is a conference put on by the local youth for the community. Youth from churches throughout the area come together and plan the entire thing. Adults from each church come together to provide direction and support, but the themes and schedule are planned by the youth. Last year's conference was themed "Reality Check." One of the primary themes was breaking down denominational and generational walls in the Body of Christ.

Friday Night Meetings: On the first and third Friday of each month Ywam Northwoods hosts a fellowship time open to the community. The focus is on breaking down denominational walls and just seeking God as a unified body of believers. Everyone is welcome, and each Friday Night Meeting may look a little different. Some nights the emphasis is on prayer and intercession, other nights it is an extended time of worship. Guest teachers are often brought in. An itinerary for upcoming friday night events can be found here.

Retreats: Our campus has a full kitchen and sits on 160 acres of wooded area. The main lodge is next to a lake. We love to bless others with the use of our facilities. Weddings, summer camps, church retreats, we've done them all.
